• Medications: Do not take aspirin unless it’s prescribed. To reduce bruising and get the best results, avoid non-prescribed blood thinners and herbal supplements (including fish oil, ibuprofen, Motrin, Aleve, and other NSAIDs) for at least one week before your appointment.
• Prescription Blood Thinners: If you are taking medications like Coumadin or Plavix, please inform your provider.
• Alcohol: Avoid alcohol the day before your procedure—it can cause dehydration and increase the risk of bruising.
• Diet: Eat a light meal before coming in and avoid caffeine.
• Hydration: Drink at least 8 glasses of water the day before your treatment and at least 12 ounces the morning of your appointment. Staying well-hydrated is essential for a successful blood draw. If you're not properly hydrated and we’re unable to draw blood, your appointment may need to be rescheduled and could incur a cancellation fee.
• Skincare Products: Stop using makeup, retinoids, glycolic acid, and vitamin C products for one week before your procedure.
