Our PRP certified nurse will begin by drawing around 10 cc of blood from a vein in your elbow. This blood is then placed in a centrifuge, which spins it for about 10 to 15 minutes to separate the platelets from the other components. Next, the area being treated is numbed with a local anesthetic. The concentrated platelets are then carefully injected into the injured area. In some cases, your doctor may use ultrasound to help guide the needle for accurate placement.

• Medications: Do not take aspirin unless it’s prescribed. To reduce bruising and get the best results, avoid non-prescribed blood thinners and herbal supplements (including fish oil, ibuprofen, Motrin, Aleve, and other NSAIDs) for at least one week before your appointment. • Prescription Blood Thinners: If you are taking medications like Coumadin or Plavix, please inform your provider. • Alcohol: Avoid alcohol the day before your procedure—it can cause dehydration and increase the risk of bruising. • Diet: Eat a light meal before coming in and avoid caffeine. • Hydration: Drink at least 8 glasses of water the day before your treatment and at least 12 ounces the morning of your appointment. Staying well-hydrated is essential for a successful blood draw. If you're not properly hydrated and we’re unable to draw blood, your appointment may need to be rescheduled and could incur a cancellation fee. • Skincare Products: Stop using makeup, retinoids, glycolic acid, and vitamin C products for one week before your procedure.

For the first 3 days after your procedure, please follow these guidelines: • Avoid makeup on the treated area. • Do not touch the injection site, except for gentle cleansing. • Refrain from swimming or engaging in strenuous exercise. • Avoid prolonged sun exposure. • Stay out of saunas, hot tubs, and Jacuzzis. • Avoid extreme temperatures and sudden changes in temperature. Use only gentle skincare products (e.g., Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser) to wash the area for the first 3 days. You can return to your regular skincare routine afterward. If you need to use makeup, Oxygenetix post-procedure makeup with sunscreen is recommended. If your treatment involved the face or lips: • Avoid very hot or cold beverages for 3 days. • Do not undergo any additional cosmetic treatments (such as chemical peels or laser procedures) for at least one month.

The number of PRP sessions needed varies based on your treatment area and goals. For facial rejuvenation (including under eyes), most patients require 2-6 initial treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart, allowing time for collagen production and cellular renewal. Hair restoration typically follows a different protocol, with 3-4 monthly sessions initially, followed by maintenance every 6 months. While you won't see immediate results, gradual improvements become visible within weeks as your body's natural healing processes take effect. To sustain your rejuvenation results, periodic maintenance treatments are recommended.
